限制性定語從句與同位語從句的區(qū)別
關(guān)系副詞引導(dǎo)限制性定語從句中的關(guān)系詞有跟他們含義相應(yīng)的先行詞，而引導(dǎo)同位語從句時則沒有與他們含義相應(yīng)的先行詞。如：
Sorry, I’ve forgot the day when we met for the first time. 抱歉，我記不起我們第一次見面的日子了。(定語從句，先行詞the day 與when含義相應(yīng))
I’ve no idea when we met for the first time. 我不知道我們第一次是什么時候見面的。(同位語從句，idea與when沒有任何聯(lián)系)
定語從句與時間語狀語從句的區(qū)別
當定語從句的引導(dǎo)詞與時間狀語的連接詞都是when時，定語從句修飾、限制、說明時間名詞，只能放在先行詞的后面;而時間狀語從句說明動作發(fā)生的情況，并且可以放在主句的前面。如：
Do you know the time when the class is over? 你知道下課的時間嗎?(定語從句)
It was already five o’clock when the class was over. —When the class was over, it was already five o’clock. 當課結(jié)束時，已經(jīng)是五點鐘了。(時間狀語從句)
定語從句與地點狀語從句的區(qū)別
當定語從句的引導(dǎo)詞與地點狀語的連接詞都是where時，定語從句修飾、限制、說明地點名詞;而狀語從句說明動作發(fā)生的地點，where沒有對應(yīng)的地點名詞或代詞。如：
This is the place where we used to live a few years ago. 這就是幾年前我們常居住的地方。(定語從句)
Let’s go where we can find a better job. 我們到我們能找到更好工作的地方去吧。(地點狀語從句)
定語從句與強調(diào)句型的區(qū)別
定語從句對名詞或代詞的修飾和限制，關(guān)系詞可能是that, which, as, who, but, 另一方面，句子中的It有所指;而強調(diào)句型是對某部分加強語氣，而強調(diào)語氣的連接詞只能是that, who，并且句子中的It 沒有任何意義;一般比較明顯，而有時就難以區(qū)別，還需要根據(jù)上下文的語境來判斷。如：
It is a book that he wants.
它究竟是強調(diào)句型還是定語從句，就要從語境上來考察。如果它是用來回答What is this / that? 這樣的問題，意思是：它是一本他想要的書。句子顯然是定語從句。如果是用來回答What does he want?這樣的問題，那么意思是：他想要的是一本書。顯然，句子是強調(diào)句型。
定語從句與結(jié)果狀語從句的區(qū)別
定語從句中的關(guān)系詞在從句中還要做某種成分，因而從句成分不完整;而結(jié)果狀語從句中的連接詞不作句子任何成分，因此句子成分完整。如：
It is such an interesting book as we all like. 它是我們大家都喜歡的如此有趣的書。(定語從句)
It is such an interesting book that we all like it. 它是一本如此有趣的書，我么大家都喜歡它。 (結(jié)果狀語從句)
比較：It is such an interesting book that we all like. 強調(diào)句型。意思是：我們大家都喜歡的是一本如此有趣的書。
定語從句與獨立主格結(jié)構(gòu)的區(qū)別
定語從句一般有關(guān)系詞、主謂結(jié)構(gòu)完整;而獨立主格結(jié)構(gòu)沒有關(guān)系詞、也沒有謂語動詞。如：
The book being very interesting, we all like it. 由于這本書有趣，我們大家都喜歡它。
The book which / that is very interesting was published last year. 這本有趣的書是去年出版的。
定語從句
定語從句是修飾名詞或代詞的從句叫做定語從句，被定語從句所修飾的名詞或代詞叫做先行詞。
(1)由That引導(dǎo)，(指人或物)，先行詞是人或物；
(2)由Who引導(dǎo)，(指人)，先行詞是人；
(3)由Which引導(dǎo)，(指物)，先行詞是物；
舉例說明(1)(2):This is the engineer that/who will give us a talk.
特殊情況：引導(dǎo)詞只能用That而不用其他。
<1>被序數(shù)詞或最高級修飾的先行詞后邊，只能用That；
注意：定語從句中的謂語動詞形式與先行詞的人稱和數(shù)保持一致。（這里所說的數(shù)是單數(shù)或復(fù)數(shù)形式要與第幾人稱一致）
賓語從句
賓語從句就是陳述句語序，賓語從句就是由直接引語變?yōu)殚g接引語，或由間接引語變?yōu)橹苯右Z。
(1)由That引導(dǎo)（在句子中常被省略）
例：The boy said to this mother “I want to buy a bag.”
這個男孩對他媽媽說，我想買個書包。（直接引語）
The boy told this mother (that) he wanted to a bag.
男孩告訴他的媽媽說，他想買個書包。（間接引語）
直接引語變?yōu)殚g接引語時里的動詞會有變化，變化方式：
直接引語————間接引語
一般現(xiàn)在時——一般過去時
現(xiàn)在進行時——過去進行時
現(xiàn)在完成時——過去完成時
一般過去時——過去完成時
過去完成時——過去完成時
一般將來時——過去將來時
二、由If或Whether引導(dǎo)（是不是、是否，If在連接賓語從句時是這個意思；連接條件狀語從句時，假如、如果）
例：The teacher asked “do you know his name”.(直接引語)
The teacher asked me if (或Whether)I knew his name.(間接引語)
（注意直接引語變?yōu)殚g接引語動詞的時態(tài)變化）
特殊情況：只能用Whether,而不能用If。
(1)放在動詞不定式前邊時：
例：I can’t decide whether to buy this pen or that one.
(2)放在介詞后邊時：
例：I worry about(介詞)whether I can pass the exam.
(3)與“or not”連用時：（一般情況這倆詞都是句尾）
例：I don’t whether I can help you or not.
三、由疑問詞引導(dǎo)的直接引語（原句是特殊疑問句）
例：The teacher asked Liu Xiang “What time is it?”(直接引語)
The teacher asked Liu Xiang what time it was.(間接引語)
注意：（時態(tài)搭配關(guān)系：主句是一般現(xiàn)在時態(tài)，從句根據(jù)需要可使用任何時態(tài)，主句是一般過去時態(tài)，從句必須是過去時態(tài)中的一種。）
特殊情況：如果賓語從句表示的是一種客觀性真理（比如：世界上有一個太陽，有一個地球......）這是賓語從句，主句是一般過去時態(tài)的情況下從句仍然是一般現(xiàn)在時態(tài)。
If可能連接的是賓語從句也可能是條件狀語從句，連的賓語時意思是（是不是；是否）連的是條件狀語從句時意思是（假如，如果），連接賓語從句時，時態(tài)搭配關(guān)系以寫出，連接條件狀語從句時，主句是一般將來時態(tài)，從句是一般現(xiàn)在時態(tài)，區(qū)分它連的是賓語從句還是條件狀語從句，If放在動詞后邊時，這是連接的賓語從句，其他位置即是條件狀語從句。
