Scrooge：Good.I was afraid something bad occurred to stop them in their useful course.

Yes.At this festive season,a few of us are endeavoring to raise a fund to buy the poor some meat and drink and means of warmth.What shall we put you down for?

Scrooge：I wish to be left alone!I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry.I support the establishments I have mentioned.And those whose are badly off must go there.
斯克里奇：我希望你們別來煩我，我自己圣誕都不快樂，我也沒有錢讓懶散的人圣誕快樂，我支持我提到的那些機(jī)構(gòu)，那是窮人該去的地方。
Many cannot go there.And,well,frankly,many would rather die.
很多人不去那里，相比去那兒很多人更寧愿去死。
Scrooge：Then they had better do it and decrease the surplus population.
斯克里奇：那就去死吧，也能減少剩余人口。
