my life as Mcdull 麥兜的故事
McDull is a male pig who can be distinguished by a birthmark on his right eye. He has a heart of gold, but he isn't very smart and ordinary in every way; nevertheless, he has many dreams. However, every time he tries, he fails; he is disappointed, but tries again, exploring other dreams. In this way he creates his own colourful world. He lives his life simply and naturally. He is not perfect, but his attitude towards life, namely of never giving up, makes him a popular character.
麥兜是一只右眼上有個胎記的小豬。他有一顆金子般的心，但他不是很聰明，什么方面都平平無奇;盡管如此，他也有自己的夢想。每一次他嘗試著達(dá)成自己的理想，他都會失敗;他會感到失望，但依舊進(jìn)取，追逐著自己其它的夢。他就是這樣創(chuàng)造了自己的一片天地。他單純而簡單的生活，以及雖不完美，卻積極向上的生活態(tài)度，和永不放棄的精神，使得他受到了大眾的歡迎。
The name McDull actually has a story itself. When Mrs Mak was going to give birth to McDull, she saw a magical plastic basin(pronounced roughly as "dull" in Cantonese) flying over her head. Believing it a sign from the gods, she named her son as "Dull".
麥兜名字的由來有一個故事。麥太臨盆去醫(yī)院準(zhǔn)備生麥兜的時候，她看到了一只神奇的塑料盆(粵語中叫做“膠兜”)從她頭頂飛過。由此她向塑料盆許了一系列的愿望，希望將來的兒子能很聰明、讀書好，長得帥，像梁朝偉或者周潤發(fā)，還有運(yùn)氣要好，最后塑料盆終于落地。麥太認(rèn)為這是老天爺傳遞的異象，而麥膠這個名字不好聽，于是決定取名麥兜。

Henry ford didn’t always pay attention in school. one day ,he and a friend took a watch apart. angry and upset, the teacher told him both to stay after school. their punishment was to stay until they had fixed the watch. but the teacher did not know young ford’s genius. in ten minutes, this mechanical wizard had repaired the watch and was on this way home.. ford was always interested in how things worked. he once plugged up the spout of a teapot and placed it on the fire. then he waited to see what would happen. the water boiled and, of course, turned to steam. since the steam had no way to escape, the teapot exploded. the explosion cracked a mirror and broke a window. the young inventor was badly scalded ford’s year of curiosity and tinkering paid off. he dreamed of a horseless carriage. when he built one, the world of transportation was changed forever.
亨利.福特在學(xué)校里常常心不在焉。有一天，他和一個小朋友把一塊手表拆開了。老師很生氣，讓他們放學(xué)后留下來，把表修好才能回家。當(dāng)時這位老師并不知道小福特的天才。只用了十分鐘，這位機(jī)械奇才就把手表修好，走在回家的路上了。
福特對各種東西的工作原理總是很感興趣。曾有一次，他把茶壺嘴用東西堵住，然后把茶壺放在火爐上。他便站在一邊等候著會出現(xiàn)什么情況。當(dāng)然，水開后變成了水蒸氣。因?yàn)樗魵鉄o處逸出，茶壺便爆炸了，因而打碎了一面鏡子和一扇窗戶。這個小發(fā)明家也被嚴(yán)重地燙傷了。
多年后，福特的好奇心和他的動手能力使他得到了回報。他曾經(jīng)夢想著去制造一輛無馬行進(jìn)的車。他造成了一輛這樣的車后，運(yùn)輸界發(fā)生了永久性的變化。
